Thomas Telford UTC is a high performing secondary academy and a member of one of the highest performing MATs in the country. This role is for a Humanities teacher covering maternity leave from September 2026 to January 2027, with potential for full‑time placement.

The Role

We are looking for an inspirational and dynamic teacher to join our highly successful Humanities Department and support our mission to Educate, Engage, and Inspire a new generation of literate young people. The role is currently part‑time with the possibility of full‑time if another subject is taught.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the Humanities curriculum, delivering KS5 post‑16 lessons in an innovative, hands‑on manner.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Department and across the University Technical College.
  • Plan, assess and report on student progress, ensuring high attainment and progression.
  • Contribute to the development of teaching resources and the continuous improvement of the curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Relevant subject qualification (e.g., PGCE, MA, or equivalent teaching qualification).
  • Full teaching qualification and a DBS enhanced clearance.
  • Experience teaching the Humanities subjects to secondary students (value added).
