Our client, a leading FM and Construction services provider is seeking a passionate and results–driven Senior Construction Manager to lead an established capital works department, supporting the MOD estate, across one of the largest PFI contracts in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working for the Capital Projects Team (CPT) you will be the team leader for Central Team delivering a large variety of Change and Lifecycle construction projects under a Private Finance Initiative.
- Identify financial/commercial risks and opportunities for CPT and work with the commercial team to ensure appropriate plans are put in place to provide the optimum outcome.
- Manage external consultants and contractors throughout all stages from project definition to delivery and handover.
- Ensure projects are delivered to correct quality standards, safely, on time and within budget.
- Manage a team of multidisciplinary staff from conception of projects to delivery and handover, including relationships with internal commercial and procurement teams to ensure accurate and timely responses to change requests.
- Identify and develop future business opportunities by working with key internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining relationships to foster collaborative and long–term approach.
Qualifications & Experience:
- An industry recognised qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. degree in Construction, Civil Engineering or Law.
- Proven track record in project leadership role in a complete multi–stakeholder construction/FM environment.
- Experience of managing contractors and design consultants to develop project design solutions on a wide range of projects up to GBP20m.
- The ability to read construction drawings and specifications, and prepare project scopes, programmes and reports.
- Have proven management of contractual issues including disputes and claims.
- A pro–active individual with a natural disposition to inspire, lead, mentor and teach, is an effective communicator both written and spoken, and is able to build relationships with external stakeholders.
- Have commercial awareness across all business operations coupled with strong business acumen, negotiation, and IT skills.
- An eye for detail with the ability to produce consistent high–quality work within acceptable timescales.
- Driving Licence: Full UK valid driving licence required.
