Thomas Search are working on behalf of an independent consultancy to appoint a Chartered Quantity Surveyor into their growing and successful Cost consultancy team. You will work on a wide and varied portfolio of projects in a commercial environment, supporting an enviable national client base. This is a client-facing role offering early responsibility, structured support, and excellent long-term career progression within a flexible and collaborative working environment. You will play a key part in supporting business growth by delivering high-calibre, commercially focused cost consultancy advice across a range of sectors.
What You’ll do:
- Contract administration with detailed knowledge of standard forms of contract including JCT Minor Works, Intermediate and Standard Building Contracts (experience of NEC, GC Works and PPC 2000 desirable)
- Cost planning and estimating
- Understanding of procurement routes and strategies
- Preparation of tender and contract documentation, including Schedules of Works and Bills of Quantities
- Measurement (manual and CAD Measure) with a sound understanding of construction processes
- Knowledge of Reinstatement Cost Assessments
- Strong understanding of material costings and sourcing cost data

- Independent delivery of procurement, including single-stage and two-stage tendering
- Cost consultancy experience across commercial, residential and retail sectors
- Demonstrable experience of effective client relationship management
- Proven ability to deliver end-to-end commercial cost consultancy services
- Experience working with a variety of contract forms
- Strong team player
- Confident, professional communicator (written and verbal)
- Commercially aware
- Client-focused, with a desire to exceed expectations
- Enthusiastic and proactive
- Highly accurate with strong attention to detail
