We are currently working with a leading manufacturing company who are looking to expand their team by taking on a Financial Accountant. The successful candidate will help managers improve decisions and efficiency of operations by advising them about the financial implications of business decisions to aid growth and profit, preparing reports, budgets, forecasts, commentaries and financial statements.

The candidate will have experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment, with a strong understanding of operational and production-led finance.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret financial performance data, identifying trends across revenue streams, cost of sales, operating expenditure, and capital investment.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support business planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Interpret complex financial data to deliver clear, accurate, and timely insights to senior management.
  • Play an integral role in the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial outputs.
  • Manage trade compliance activities, including relevant reporting obligations, preparing VAT returns, maintaining full adherence to statutory tax requirements.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for cash flow forecasting, monitoring, and reporting, including conducting detailed reviews of overhead expenditure, providing insight into cost drivers and opportunities for control.
  • Prepare and manage accruals and prepayments in line with accounting standards.
  • Produce and analyse warranty-related financial reports.
  • Track key financial metrics, investigating variances and highlighting emerging trends or anomalies.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior finance team members, contributing to their development.
  • Support both internal and external audit processes, ensuring robust documentation and compliance.
  • Contribute to divisional reporting requirements, including statutory and tax reporting packs.
  • Assist with payroll-related reporting, including P11D preparation and submission.
Essential Experience/Qualifications required:
  • Proven experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment, with a strong understanding of operational and production-led finance.
  • Solid experience with VAT reporting, cost analysis, overhead control, accruals, trade compliance and prepayments, ensuring complete accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience working with month-end close processes in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
  • Strong knowledge of cash flow forecasting and financial reporting, ideally within a multi-cost centre operation.
  • Demonstrable experience analysing financial performance, variances, and trends, with the ability to translate data into commercial insight.
  • Confident working with ERP systems and utilising Business Intelligence tools, producing performance reports.
  • Experience supporting audits (internal and external) and preparing financial packs for divisional or group reporting.
  • Ability to manage and interpret complex financial data, commercially minded, with the ability to work independently and influence decision-making.
