Our client is a specialist provision supporting 16–24-year-olds with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Our two-year programme is designed to support young people in their transition from education into adult life, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and independence needed for adulthood and meaningful engagement within their local community.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEND Lecturer (SLD Specialist) to deliver highly personalised, engaging learning opportunities for learners with complex needs. The role focuses on developing independence and employability through a curriculum that combines life skills, community engagement, supported volunteering/employment, and the development of English and maths for everyday life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated, learner-centred lessons for students with SLD
- Create stimulating, individualised learning opportunities aligned with EHCP outcomes
- Support learners to develop independence, confidence, and functional life skills
- Deliver English and maths in a practical, real-life context
- Facilitate community-based learning, supported volunteering, and employability activities
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records
- Work collaboratively with support staff, families, and external professionals
Essential Requirements:
- Recognised teaching qualification
- Proven experience teaching students with SEND, specifically lower-level / entry-level learners
- Strong understanding of SLD and inclusive teaching strategies
- Commitment to supporting young people into adulthood and employment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
