THOMAS Professional is currently recruiting for multiple CNC Machinist opportunities with an established precision engineering manufacturer based in Bristol. We are interested in speaking with CNC Turners and CNC Millers across a range of experience levels, from experienced CNC Operators through to Setter/Operators and fully skilled Programmer/Setter/Operators. With a variety of shift patterns available, including permanent days, rotating double days and late shifts, there are opportunities to suit candidates with different experience levels and working preferences.

The Role
Depending on your experience and machining background, responsibilities may include:
- Operating, setting and/or programming CNC machinery
- CNC Turning and/or CNC Milling
- Working with Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls
- Setting tooling, fixtures, work offsets and machine datums
- Producing precision components from engineering drawings and specifications
- Working with 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC machinery where applicable
- Creating and editing CNC programmes at Programmer level
- Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds
- Monitoring machining processes and making adjustments where required
- Troubleshooting tooling, programme and machining issues
- Carrying out in-process inspection
- Producing components to tight tolerances and quality standards
- Using precision measuring equipment
- Supporting improvements to quality, cycle times and production efficiency
What We’re Looking For
We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in CNC machining at a variety of levels. Depending on the position, relevant experience may include:
- CNC Turning and/or CNC Milling
- Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls
- Setting and operating CNC machines
- CNC programming
- 3, 4 or 5-axis machining
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Working to close tolerances
- Understanding tooling, offsets, speeds and feeds
- Using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, plug gauges and other inspection equipment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
You do not need to have experience in all of the above areas. Applications will be considered based on individual experience and skill level.
Shifts Available
A variety of working patterns are available, including:
- Permanent Day Shift
- Rotating Double Day Shift
- Permanent Late Shift
Shift premiums apply to relevant shift patterns.
