Stores Person – Dispatch Yard (Front Yard – Stores)

Support the smooth running of the dispatch yard by managing stock, processing incoming and outgoing goods, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe, organised working environment.

To support the smooth operation of the dispatch yard by managing the issuing, receipt, and accurate recording of stores materials.

This includes maintaining stock levels, processing purchase orders, and ensuring compliance with all site health and safety regulations.

The role is key in maintaining high standards of organisation, safety, and stock control within the front yard area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures, ensuring safe systems of work at all times.
  • Follow agreed staff access rights and ensure secure handling of materials.
  • Store finished products safely and neatly in designated areas, maintaining high standards of storage and organisation.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, ensuring waste is removed regularly to promote a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Implement effective stock rotation and batch management practices.
  • Handle and move parcels and consumable items safely, following manual handling guidelines.
  • Prepare outgoing orders by processing supply requests, picking materials, packing goods, and placing them in the delivery area.
  • Accurately check and sign off Purchase Orders upon receipt of goods; forward signed copies to the Purchasing team promptly.
  • Ensure delivery notes and stock control paperwork are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accurate electronic stock records at all times.
  • Liaise with the Purchasing team to maintain Kanban stock levels as per agreed specifications.
  • Conduct regular physical stock checks and report discrepancies.
  • Monitor and replenish consumable item stock, notifying Purchasing when levels are low.
  • Assist with order picking based on order sheets when required.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally regarding all warehouse and stock issues.

Holiday

Our holiday calendar runs run from January to December and we offer 23 days (184 hours) plus national bank holidays, which is calculated pro rata if employment commences part way through the year.

Some days have to be taken as holiday at Christmas when the factory is shut.

We have a work place pension with The People’s Pension into which employees are auto enrolled after 3 months

  • Overtime is paid for any hours worked over and above set hours in a month, as follows:
  • First 2 hours – basic x 1.3 subsequent hours during the week and at weekends – basic x 1.5
