Due to continued growth, we are seeking a qualified Employment Law Solicitor (1–4 years PQE) to join our specialist Employment Law team based in London City. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated solicitor to work on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters within a supportive, forward-thinking and commercially focused environment.
Key responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload of employment law matters, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, redundancy, TUPE, breach of contract, restrictive covenants and settlement agreements.
- Advising employers and employees on employment risk management, workplace issues and dispute avoidance strategies.
- Conducting and advising on Employment Tribunal litigation, including drafting pleadings, witness statements and schedules of loss.
- Representing clients in Employment Tribunal hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations and ACAS conciliation.
- Drafting and reviewing employment documentation, including contracts of employment, policies, procedures and settlement agreements.
- Providing clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice tailored to each client’s objectives.
- Supporting clients with day-to-day HR and employment law issues as part of ongoing advisory relationships.
- Engaging in business development activities, including networking, building client relationships and contributing to the growth of the Employment Law department.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.
- Keeping up to date with developments in employment law and Employment Tribunal practice.
Key skills & experience required
- A qualified solicitor with 1-4 years PQE specialising in employment law.
- Strong experience handling Employment Tribunal claims from inception to conclusion.
- Excellent technical knowledge of employment law, including discrimination, unfair dismissal and contractual claims.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with experience achieving commercial settlements.
- High-quality drafting skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently while meeting deadlines.
- Exceptional client care and communication skills, with a practical and solution-focused approach.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive interest in business development.
- Strong IT skills and familiarity with case management systems.
- A flexible, pragmatic and client-focused approach to employment law.
