About the role

Carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the academy’s policies under the direction of the Headteacher. Be an effective professional who demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, take responsibility for professional development and has pupils who achieve well. Use a range of appropriate strategies and follow Academy policies for teaching/tutoring, behaviour management, and classroom management. Create and manage a caring, supportive, purposeful, attractive and stimulating environment which is conducive to children’s learning. Plan and prepare lessons in order to deliver the school’s curriculum, ensuring breadth and balance in all subjects. Identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate differentiation, challenge, support and maintain high expectations. Maintain good order and discipline among the pupils, safeguarding their health and safety following school procedures and policies. Organise and manage groups or individual pupils ensuring differentiation of learning needs, reflecting all abilities. Plan opportunities to develop the social, emotional and cultural aspects of pupils’ learning. Maintain a regular system of monitoring, assessment, record‑keeping and reporting of children’s progress. Ensure effective use of support staff within the classroom, including parent helpers. Participate in staff meetings as required. Be part of a whole school team, actively involved in decision‑making on the preparation and development of policies and programmes of study, teaching materials, resources, methods of teaching and pastoral arrangements.

Starting 1st September 2026, 32.5 hours per week, maternity cover.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status or ECT.
  • Experience of teaching with demonstrable evidence of high standards of class teaching.
  • Experience of managing teaching resources.
  • Awareness of current developments in Education and the implications of these.
  • Understanding of effective assessment and target‑setting procedures.
  • Evidence of sustained participation in INSET/CPD.
  • Ability to safeguard children, identifying concerns, sharing information and taking prompt action.
  • Strong commitment to creating a rich and exciting learning environment that offers students an unrivalled package of sporting and cultural enrichment.
