We currently have a career development opportunity for a conscientious and enthusiastic individual at our Trafford Park site in the capacity of Business Manager. Reporting to the Group Aftermarket Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for taking the business forward by providing vision, inspiration and professionalism of the highest standard.
The job holder will be responsible for maximizing profits and the return on investment by the prudent and efficient use of resources as well as ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and service levels provided. We must maintain our competitive edge by ensuring we meet and exceed customers’ expectations, and work to maintain and develop service and parts sales volumes and profitability. They will need to control cash and working capital effectively within limits set by the company.
In addition, it is important to create and maintain an environment and culture where all management and staff develop and excel. The job holder will also be responsible for managing the facilities and all site health and safety issues and will act as the main point of contact for customers and suppliers attending the site.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, driven and have the following qualifications, training and experience:
- A detailed understanding of current and relevant experience of the commercial vehicle industry (or similar industry) at the highest level.
- Practical skills, experience and knowledge of modern vehicle industry processes and practices e.g. produce and manage a budget, manage KPIs such as efficiency levels, technician productivity, cost management, people management.
- An ability to create a workplace environment and culture that allows all staff to develop and excel in their jobs including experience of managing people.
- Exceptional customer facing and interpersonal skills.
- An ability to negotiate effectively, together with excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Up to date knowledge of vehicle legislation, consumer legislation and trade practices.
- A comprehensive understanding of Microsoft computing packages and be fully conversant with GDS.
- IT literate with Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as excellent report writing skills and document management experience.
- As regular travel is required, a full clean driving license is essential. The role will also include evening/stop over visits with Volvo GB and potential or existing customers where appropriate.
