Job Description
Our client is a leading housing provider, known for delivering high-quality homes and sustainable communities. As they continue to grow, they are looking to augment their technical team with an experienced Utilities Coordinator.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone currently working with a utilities contractor or a recognised house builder, looking to step into a role with greater autonomy and impact. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will manage all aspects of utility coordination across a range of residential development sites.
You will be a self-sufficient and detail-oriented professional, confident working independently while collaborating across departments and liaising with external utility providers, contractors, and legal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Disconnections & Diversions:
- Coordinate disconnections, diversions, and off-site works with relevant utility providers.
New Service Arrangements:
- Arrange new utility services including:
- Service trench and layout coordination
- Meter arrangements (1-Phase, 3-Phase, CT Metering)
- EV charging points
- Temporary Builders Supplies (TBS)
- Water, gas, electricity, and telecoms (Openreach, Hyperoptic)
Design & Procurement:
- Obtain and review quotations and tenders for utility works
- Coordinate design approvals: confirm service routes, meter locations, points of connection (POC), order of build, and infrastructure placement (e.g. comms chambers, easements)
Documentation & Legal:
- Provide sites with complete utility service files
- Liaise with solicitors to manage and complete legal agreements, including easements
Project Coordination:
- Organise pre-site start utility meetings
- Apply for MPANs and MPRNs; register services with relevant meter suppliers
- Set up and manage meter contracts for LLs, EVs, and TBS; arrange contract renewals and disconnections as needed
- Coordinate remedial works for adoption
Cross-Team Support:
- Work closely with Customer Services, Estates, and Accounts
- Support the Land and Planning team with utility-related input for new site feasibility
- Assist Site Managers with on-site utility issues and attend meetings where necessary
Finance & Admin:
- Ensure utility-related invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner
Experience & Skills Required
- Background in construction, utilities, or infrastructure projects is essential
- Experience working with electricity, gas, water, and telecoms providers
- Familiarity with utility design, installation, and connection processes
- Knowledge of land and planning regulations relating to utilities
- Hands-on experience with arranging disconnections, diversions, and new connections
- Understanding of MPANs (electricity), MPRNs (gas), and meter registrations
- Knowledge of single-phase, three-phase, and CT metering, plus EV infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret utility drawings, site plans, and easements
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
