We are currently working on behalf of an established and respected civil engineering consultancy seeking an ambitious Civil Engineer at either Senior or Principal level to join their technical team based near Stansted. This is a pivotal role within a growing consultancy where you will lead structural and civil engineering design projects, mentor junior engineering staff and act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors and local authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the detailed design and delivery of infrastructure schemes, including residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
- Produce and oversee highways design, junction layouts and cut-and-fill earthworks modelling.
- Deliver surface water and foul drainage designs, incorporating SuDS in line with lead local flood authority requirements.
- Prepare and manage Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 adoption agreements and technical approvals.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians within the design team.
- Act as the key client and stakeholder contact, attending project meetings, site visits and design reviews.
- Coordinate closely with local authorities, water companies, planners and external design disciplines to secure technical sign-offs.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Proven civil engineering design experience gained within a UK engineering consultancy environment.
- Strong technical background across highway design, foul and surface water drainage and SuDS design.
- Demonstrable experience securing Section 38, 104 and 278 technical approvals.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the confidence to lead client meetings.
- Working towards or holding Chartered / Incorporated status (ICE or CIHT) is advantageous.
