The Opportunity
Having recently supported our client in hiring a Senior Development Manager to strengthen their growing leisure business, we have now been retained to hire a Town Planner to optimise two other schemes east and north of their central London base. This role supports an increasing portfolio of residential and mixed-use developments. While projects in the Bedfordshire region form the core of your workload, you will also contribute to schemes across London as the pipeline evolves. We need a professional confident in managing applications and engaging directly with local authorities to secure permissions efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Advice: Provide early-stage planning guidance, assess site constraints and develop strategies to maximise development value.
- Application Management: Lead the preparation and submission of planning applications, including drafting statements and managing the validation process.
- Negotiation: Act as the primary point of contact for planning officers and statutory bodies to navigate complex negotiations.
- Feasibility: Conduct site visits and policy reviews to produce robust feasibility and appraisal reports.
- Project Support: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design development meets policy requirements.
Requirements
- RTPI qualified (or working towards chartership) with a degree in Town Planning.
- Proven experience managing applications within the residential or mixed-use sectors.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to think strategically about site potential.
- Excellent report-writing skills and the confidence to work independently.
- Knowledge of planning policies within the Home Counties is highly desirable.
