We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to lead the pre-construction and delivery of a major new-build healthcare development in Salisbury.

Joining the project during the pre-construction phase, you will help shape the delivery strategy, coordinate the design process and build strong relationships with the client and wider project stakeholders.

You will then take overall responsibility for delivering the scheme on site.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing large and technically complex construction projects for a UK main contractor.

You will be a strong, visible leader with excellent client-facing skills and the ability to manage programme, commercial performance, health and safety, quality and operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the project through pre-construction and subsequent on-site delivery.
  • Develop and maintain the overall project delivery strategy.
  • Establish a clear management structure and allocate responsibilities across the project team.
  • Lead, support and develop team members through effective management, coaching and training.
  • Manage the design process, providing clear direction to the Design Manager and consultant team.
  • Produce and monitor information-required schedules.
  • Ensure materials, plant and subcontract packages are procured in line with the construction programme.
  • Monitor progress against programme and chair regular project and subcontractor meetings.
  • Maintain the highest standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and construction quality.
  • Undertake regular site inspections and ensure any issues are addressed promptly.
  • Take ownership of project finances in collaboration with the commercial team.
  • Complete and present monthly cost value reconciliations.
  • Chair client meetings and provide accurate progress reports to senior management.
  • Identify and mitigate potential contractual disputes, claims, design issues and defects.
  • Manage relationships with the client, end users, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure project documentation, systems and internal procedures are complete and maintained.
  • Resolve significant operational challenges and make informed decisions to protect successful project delivery.
  • Candidate Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience as a Project Manager on major construction projects.
  • A strong background working for a UK main contractor.
  • Experience delivering large new-build schemes from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Healthcare sector experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of construction programming, design management, procurement and commercial reporting.
  • Experience preparing and delivering monthly CVRs.
  • A thorough understanding of UK health and safety legislation and site management requirements.
  • Good understanding of BIM and its application within project delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and client-facing skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to take full ownership of project performance.
  • A strong commitment to achieving the highest standards of safety, quality and delivery.
