An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and proactive Assistant Site Manager to join a major refurbishment project involving the replacement of roofing systems, installation of mechanical roof plant, and associated works to a Grade II Listed building. Working within a fully operational live environment, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the site management team to deliver the project safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
- Weekend working may be required to meet programme requirements.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Site Manager, the Assistant Site Manager will support the day-to-day management of site operations, subcontractors, logistics, health and safety, and programme delivery. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience on a complex refurbishment project while working alongside an experienced management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Site Manager in the day-to-day running of the project.
- Assist in coordinating and supervising subcontractors and specialist trades.
- Monitor site activities to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with programme requirements.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) procedures.
- Support the review and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Maintain site records, inspections, and project documentation.
- Assist with monitoring progress against programme milestones and reporting any issues or delays.
- Support communication with the client team, building users, and project stakeholders.
- Manage site logistics and deliveries within a live operational environment, ensuring minimal disruption to building occupants and visitors.
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
- Build positive working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and the wider project team.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Site Manager or Site Supervisor role within the construction industry.
- Experience working on refurbishment, roofing, or heritage projects is desirable.
- Understanding of working within occupied or live environments.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Good understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
- Ability to coordinate site logistics and manage multiple work activities simultaneously.
- Competency in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
