East London (Poplar office & site-based) 4 days site/office | 1 day working from home
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Disrepair Surveyor to join our team, covering East London. This is a hands-on, autonomous role suited to a confident professional who can manage cases independently from start to finish.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of disrepair and adaptation referrals, overseeing works through the full lifecycle β from initial inspection to post-completion inspection.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing your own diary across site visits and the Poplar office (4 days per week)
- Working from home 1 day per week
- Picking up cases and seeing them through from start to finish
- Fully understanding and managing the disrepair process
- Assessing properties and specifying required works
- Commissioning works and overseeing contractors on site
- Ensuring cases are taken through to post-completion inspection
- Liaising confidently and assertively with contractors and stakeholders
- Handling a mix of disrepair cases and adaptation referrals
About You
You will be a proactive, organised surveyor with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to manage contractors and cases independently.
Essential requirements:
- HND in Building Surveying (minimum)
- Ideally Degree in Building Surveying
- Proven experience managing disrepair cases end-to-end
- Strong understanding of the disrepair process
- Ability to assess, specify, commission, and oversee works
- Assertive and professional when dealing with contractors
- Excellent organisational and case management skills
