Our head offices are based in the beautiful village of Hook Norton near Banbury. Here you will find our teams of finance, HR, purchasing, marketing & creative that support all of our locations across the Thomas Franks family. There is ample parking space available when visiting.
We are looking for a Health & Safety and Food Safety Manager to join our team. Ideally you will be based near Newcastle upon Tyne or surrounding area.
The role will be responsible for:
- Completing safety management system audits.
- Managing health and safety and food safety standards for Thomas Franks Ltd.
- Ensuring that health and safety and food safety standards, policies, and procedures are maintained and updated in line with Company standards and legislation.
- Reviewing safety compliance audits, accidents/incidents and ensuring necessary actions or recommendations are implemented.
- Coaching and supporting Operations Managers and Location Managers in implementation of food and safety controls.
- Managing the Food and Safety Officers.
- Deputising for the Group Director of Health and Safety as required.
Location Support:
- Responsible for reviewing all food safety and health and safety audits on the safety compliance platform.
- Responsible for completion of annual safety management system audits as required by the agreed annual audit programme.
- Coordinating support to Operations Managers and Location teams where the annual safety management system audit score is low.
- Playing a supporting/mentoring role in reaching required food safety and health and safety standards.
Health and Safety and Food Safety Incidents:
- Ensuring all necessary reporting systems, procedures, controls, and standard operating systems are in place and utilised to record incidents.
- Triage health and safety incidents and accidents in the safety compliance platform and ensure all necessary action is taken by the operational team.
- Ensuring that any learning from incidents is disseminated to the business to reduce the likelihood of future incidents.
- Completing/supporting investigations of accidents/incidents as required at Location.
- Reporting RIDDOR incidents to the HSE.
Training and Development:
- Promoting training material within the business and supporting timely completion.
- Delivering the health and safety and food safety element of the Thomas Franks induction programme.
Health and Safety and Food Safety Standards:
- Providing a mentoring role regarding health and safety, food safety, and hygiene standards at location.
- Continuously reviewing and updating Thomas Franks Food Safety and Health and Safety practices and procedures in line with developments in legislation and best practice.
Communication:
- Ensuring that Operational teams are kept up to date and notified of any changes to policy, process, procedure or legislation relating to food safety and health and safety.
- Preparing and disseminating monthly reports for Regional Directors.
- Managing any food alerts on behalf of Thomas Franks and ensuring timely notification and removal of potentially contaminated products sensitively.
