Overview

Junior Sous Chef – 5 over 7 52 weeks per year

Join to apply for the Junior Sous Chef role at Thomas Franks Ltd. Location: Winchester, Hampshire. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Salary: 35,000. Hours: 40 per week. This is a 7 days a week operation with shift patterns usually 5 over 7 days. This location offers free parking on site. This role may be part of term-time roles or full 52 weeks contracts depending on the site needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all food service areas for the day’s business relating to that meal service.
  • Ensure prompt service of all meals and service to company/client standards at all times.
  • Ensure methods of preparation and presentation comply with company expectations.
  • Prepare, set-up, serve, clear, clean and store away any food, beverage or equipment required for daily service.
  • Prepare all food for sale/service following good hygiene and safety practices to the specified standard.
  • Restock and replenish stocks and consumables as required during service periods; pre-empt customer needs and achieve optimum customer service delivery.
  • Keep the Front of House informed of any food running out and pre-empt delays in customer waiting.
  • Complete all necessary cleaning/hygiene duties.
  • Serve customers, visitors and guests in line with company and client service standards and expectations.
  • Dispose of rubbish/recycle in the correct place.
  • Assist in the preparation and placing of orders.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates in line with current health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all areas in the kitchen at the end of each shift.
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required.
  • Notify the head chef of stock movements to ensure forthcoming menus are ordered.

General Responsibilities

  • Attend all staff meetings as required.
  • Adhere to policies and procedural requirements of legislation and company to promote a professional and flexible approach.
  • Maintain neat and clean uniform and personal presentation at all times.
  • Carry out checks for food temperatures in service and related areas.
  • Carry out reasonable management requests and provide cover for other staff during periods of absence as required.
  • Be conscientious with regard to health & safety and report hazards to the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Key Personal Skills And Attributes

  • Team working abilities, listening skills, the ability to work on own initiative, impeccable personal presentation, hygiene and behaviour; food hygiene certificate preferred.
  • Adaptable and flexible; reliable, honest and able to demonstrate an open, attentive approach to customer service.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility.
  • Ability to manage some moderately heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing.

Knowledge / Competencies

  • Good verbal English (understanding and use).
  • Good written English and reading skills.
  • Similar experience in customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred.
