A co-educational specialist residential college of further education based in Hereford, catering for around 100 students and staff. This is a Monday to Sunday operation with hospitality services. On-site facilities include free parking and discounted gym membership.
We have a fantastic opportunity for General Assistant to join one of our locations in Hereford.
You will ideally have prior experience in a fast-paced catering environment and enjoy working with a great team in a company focused on food and customer service.
Key responsibilities
- Support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks, and cleaning.
- Prepare all service areas for daily meal service.
- Prepare, set up, serve, clear, clean and store away any food, beverage or equipment required for special functions.
- Prepare basic food for sale or service, following hygiene and safety practices to standard.
- Restock and replenish stocks and consumables during service; anticipate customer needs and deliver excellent service.
- Empty, remove and store rubbish or recycling in the correct place.
- Be prepared to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends for functions and school events.
- Ensure food standards are adhered to and wastage is controlled.
- Follow all Food Hygiene and Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures.
You will have the following skills
- Team-working abilities, active listening, initiative, strong personal presentation, hygiene and professional behavior; food hygiene certificate preferred.
- Adaptability and flexibility; reliable, honest with a customer-focused approach.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility.
- Ability to manage moderate heavy lifting, carrying, and pushing.
- Proficiency in verbal English.
- Strong written English and reading skills.
- Similar experience in customer service or food preparation environments is preferred.
