Millfield Prep School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 2 to 13, located in Glastonbury, Somerset. We cater for around 550 pupils and staff each day, providing a core feeding offer of breakfast, lunch, and supper, alongside a vibrant hospitality service. This is a 52-week operation running 7 days a week, with additional weekend residential activity for boarders, creating a varied and engaging working environment. A key benefit of this location is its extensive campus setting and outstanding facilities, set in the heart of the Somerset countryside.

This role operates on a 5 days out of 7 rota basis, including some weekend working (primarily during term time), balanced with:

  • No late evenings
  • Sociable hours compared to traditional hospitality roles
  • Time off over Christmas and New Year

We are looking for a talented and passionate Chef de Partie to join our team at one of our prestigious locations in Glastonbury. You will have experience working in a fast-paced, professional kitchen at CDP or Junior Sous Chef level and be confident producing high-quality food to a consistently high standard. This role offers a better work–life balance than many hospitality kitchens, with sociable hours and no late evenings. This is an exciting opportunity to work with fresh, seasonal ingredients and regularly changing bespoke menus. You will be encouraged to be creative, take pride in your work, and showcase your skills within a supportive and well‑structured kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team of chefs delivering catering services to pupils and staff
  • Prepare and cook food from scratch using fresh ingredients
  • Follow company brand standards while maintaining excellent food quality and presentation
  • Ensure food hygiene, allergen controls, and health & safety procedures are always followed
  • Support portion control, food cost awareness, and waste reduction

About You
