An independent preparatory school for girls aged 2-11 in Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross. Catering for 370 students and teachers daily. This is term-time plus contract, working 48 weeks and Monday to Friday. Free parking and use of the swimming pool are available at this location.
We are looking to hire an experienced Chef Manager to join the operation at one of our locations in Bucks.
This role works closely with the catering team and the operations manager to ensure day-to-day catering and hospitality are delivered to a high standard. You will manage the financial budget for the location while leading a team in a similar role.
Job Summary
- Lead the catering team with day-to-day production and service of the member and staff dining facilities across the site, and liaise with the centre on internal or external hospitality events.
- Deliver the client agreed budget and the company annual budget.
- Develop and implement the members and staff dining and hospitality facilities across the site, ensuring food quality, customer service, and presentation meet agreed standards.
- Prepare, comment and report on the monthly and annual Profit & Loss Operating Statements for Thomas Franks.
- Develop each area of the catering offer in line with client expectations and budgetary constraints and agreed offer development plans.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of all catering facilities throughout the year in line with business requirements.
- Assist in driving change in departments by setting standards and motivating staff to meet them.
- Liaise with members and clients via customer interaction and relevant forums to ensure requirements are met.
- Deliver Food Services operations as directed by the Operations Manager, including members/staff dining and internal/external hospitality.
- Create and nurture an environment that emphasises motivation, empowerment, teamwork and service passion.
- Provide excellent food and customer service and respond quickly and proactively to customer needs.
- Develop the food offer in line with current market trends and the Thomas Franks company values.
- Ensure age-appropriate food is available across locations and adhere to all dietary requirements at all times.
- Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with all departments and ensure your team does the same.
- Compliance with Thomas Franks Food & Beverage policies, standards and procedures through training, supervision, follow-up and hands-on management.
- Maintain and develop service standards in all dining areas, including cleanliness and presentation.
- Have full knowledge of the Client’s Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Fire and Accident reporting procedures.
- Carry out inductions, reviews and development plans for staff within managed areas and maintain appropriate records.
- Support rehabilitation activities as required by the centre for open days and centre delivery requirements.
- Undertake reasonable duties related to the effective operation and development of commercial areas as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Proven experience of delivering excellent food standards.
- Be a hands-on Catering Manager, leading the team in food production and service.
- Proven ability to communicate with clients and deliver agreed objectives and goals.
- High level of communication, including reading, writing, speaking and listening.
- Customer and personal service skills with a proven track record of customer service achievements.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Analytical/critical thinking, and ability to gather and organise information using logical processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage a team and achieve high performance through motivation.
- Flexibility to work to the needs of the business.
- Good verbal and written English skills.
- Experience in customer and/or food preparation environments is essential.
- Hold a recognised cooking qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent.
