Overview

Food Stores and Delivery Service Assistant – Monday – Friday at Thomas Franks Ltd, Winchester. Full time, permanent contract. Salary: 26,700; Hours: 40 per week.

A leading independent boarding and day school for girls aged 3 – 18 with a co-ed preschool in Winchester, Hampshire. Catering for just over 900 students and teachers daily. This is a 7 days a week operation with shift patterns usually 5 over 7 days and options for term-time or full 52 weeks contracts. Free parking on site.

Role requires joining an established and friendly team at our prestigious locations in Winchester.

Role requirements (Tasks & Responsibilities)

  • Effective management of all stores and timely delivery of food and general supplies to departments across the location in line with customer orders.
  • Receive deliveries from suppliers, check goods condition, and maintain strict control on food safety critical points.
  • Manage FIFO/stock rotation in line with food safety standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers about deliveries and stock discrepancies.
  • Keep detailed records of shortages and spares, and of delivery temperatures and storage temperatures to maintain the temperature chain.
  • Update inventory management systems regularly with stock counts.
  • Organise and deliver goods from the store to requesting departments, including picking goods according to orders and delivering across the location using a food-safe electric vehicle.
  • Assist the kitchen brigade with preparing sandwiches for Grab & Go, following hygiene and safety standards.
  • Assist with preparation, set-up, service, clearance, cleaning and storage of food, beverages or equipment for special functions.
  • Restock and replenish stocks and consumables as required; pre-empt customer needs to achieve optimum service delivery.
  • Keep the kitchen informed of any food or non-consumable stock run-outs and pre-empt delays in customer waiting.
  • Maintain clean stores and tidy workspaces; operate cleaning/dishwashing equipment and store equipment properly.
  • Complete all cleaning/hygiene duties as required.
  • Serve customers, visitors and guests in line with company and client service standards.
  • Handle rubbish and recycling appropriately.
  • Prepare laundry for collection and store clean laundry as required.

General Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures and maintain professional and flexible attitudes.
  • Wear the correct uniform neatly and cleanly at all times.
  • Carry out checks for food temperatures as required in service areas.
  • Carry out reasonable requests from management and provide cover for other staff when needed.
  • Be conscientious about Health & Safety and report hazards to the manager.

Person Specification (Skills, Competencies & Abilities)

  • Teamwork, listening skills, ability to work on own initiative; impeccable personal presentation, hygiene and behavior. Food hygiene certificate preferred.
  • Adaptable and flexible; reliable, honest with a customer-focused approach.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take some responsibility.
  • Ability to manage moderate lifting, carrying and pushing.

Knowledge / Competencies

  • Good verbal English and written English and reading skills.
  • Experience in customer service or food preparation environment preferred.
