Overview

Executive Chef Manager position at Thomas Franks Ltd in Harrow. Contract: Full Time, Permanent. Salary: £50,000 per annum. Hours: 40 per week.

Location: A private co-educational day school (ages 3–18) in Harrow on the Hill, Greater London. Catering for just under 1000 students and staff. The site operates term time only, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor and control Food Production and Service Production to ensure high standards of food and presentation in line with Thomas Franks standards and client requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to Thomas Franks Fresh Food standards using locally sourced, in-season produce with approved suppliers.
  • Plan and devise menus for nutritional value, current food styles, and customer expectations for daily service and events.
  • Ensure prompt service of meals, restock and replenish stocks as required, and pre-empt customer needs to achieve optimum service delivery.
  • Maintain hygienic production, storage and service areas and equipment, complying with food safety and health and safety legislation.
  • Ensure preparation of all food adheres to exemplary hygiene and safety standards, with staff following procedures at all times.
  • Keep Front of House informed of stock levels and potential delays; assist in planning menus, rotas, and placing orders.
  • Ensure kitchen operations comply with current health and safety regulations and attend meetings/training as required.

General Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings and adhere to policies and procedural requirements of legislation and the company.
  • Maintain a professional personal presentation and ensure checks on food temperatures are carried out.
  • Respond to reasonable management requests with a flexible and professional approach.

Person Specification

  • Team working abilities; good listening skills; ability to work on own initiative; impeccable personal presentation and hygiene; food hygiene certificate preferred.
  • Adaptable, reliable, honest with a proactive customer service approach; willingness to learn and take responsibility.

Knowledge / Competencies

  • Good verbal and written English; experience in a customer and/or food preparation environment is essential.
  • Recognised cooking qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent) and level 3 food hygiene qualification.
