Upton, Slough, Berkshire. This is a contract role offering Full Time, Permanent employment. Salary: 12.21 ph. Hours: 07:30 – 14:00 per week. It is a term-time only role working 42 weeks a year, Monday to Friday. Free parking on site is available.
We are a co-educational independent school catering for 315 students and teachers daily, offering snacks and lunch with some hospitality weekly.
Role type: Catering Assistant at our established contracts in Upton.
Responsibilities
- Serve clients during breakfast, lunch or dinner service.
- Help set up the dining room for service.
- Prepare food for service following good hygiene and safety practices to the standard specified.
- Ensure the kitchen and service areas are left clean and tidy to the required standard of the Chef Manager or to the hygiene standards set by the company/client.
- Clear, clean and store away any food, beverage or equipment required for special functions.
- Restock and replenish stocks and consumables as required during service periods to achieve optimum customer service delivery.
- Operate cleaning and dishwashing equipment. Clean and store equipment, service, preparation and storage areas properly.
- Complete all cleaning/hygiene duties as necessary.
- Interact and acknowledge all customers and client staff.
General Responsibilities
- Adhere to all policies and procedural requirements of legislation and company to promote a professional and flexible approach.
- Wear the correct uniform neatly and cleanly.
- Carry out necessary checks in the service and associated areas for food temperatures.
- Carry out all reasonable requests from management.
- Be conscientious with regard to Health & Safety and report any hazards to the manager.
Key Personal Skills and Attributes
- Previous experience in a catering environment and serving customers within a catering establishment.
- Team working abilities, good listening skills, ability to work on own initiative, impeccable personal presentation, hygiene and behaviour; Food hygiene certificate preferred.
- Adaptable and flexible; reliable, honest with an open, attentive approach to customer service.
- Willingness to learn new skills and take responsibility.
- Ability to manage some moderately heavy lifting, carrying and pushing.
Knowledge / Competencies
- Good verbal English and reading/written English skills.
- Similar experience in customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred.
