Do you want to work on diverse and innovative engineering projects across the UK? Thomas Consulting’s growing portfolio of projects has led to an increased workload. We are therefore seeking experienced Senior Structural Engineers to join our teams in our Chorley, Liverpool and London offices. This opportunity is within a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, providing experience on projects across a range of sectors. The Role
- To manage and deliver Engineering Consultancy Services, utilising your leadership and mentoring skills to develop and guide Junior Engineers and maintain excellent customer relationships.
- To lead and manage resources, ensuring projects are delivered successfully on time and within budget.
- Undertaking inspections of building structures and writing reports is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural engineering work, including design, site work, and report writing.
- Delivery conformant to relevant Codes of Practice, Design Guides, and the Building Safety Act 2022.
- Producing detailed structural calculations, sketches, drawings, and specifications.
- Preparing technical reports and project documentation, specifications and risk assessments.
- Carrying out site visits to ensure construction aligns with design specifications.
- Training and development of junior staff within the company in the area of your expertise.
- Supporting the commercial aspects of projects, including cost estimates and budgeting.
About You
- We are seeking self‑motivated individuals who are eager to take on new challenges, continually develop their skills, and contribute to the growth of our team.
- Minimum three years’ experience in structural design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D design software.
- Strong understanding of Eurocode design for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry.
- Experience in report writing and preparing structural calculations.
- Commercial awareness of project costs, budgets, and quotations.
- Knowledge of STAAD.Pro, SCIA, and Revit.
- Project management and leadership experience.
- Working towards or close to Chartered Status (CEng, MIStructE or MICE).
