QC Inspector – Thomas Broadbent, Huddersfield

For over 160 years, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of engineering. From high-G scientific research and submarine technology to high-performance centrifuges used across global industrial markets, we’ve always worked on engineering challenges that demand something different.

We presently have a permanent QC Inspector opportunity for our Quality team in Huddersfield.

This hands‑on inspection role is at the heart of how we inspect and verify what we manufacture.

What you’ll be doing

  • Carrying out dimensional and visual inspection of machined components, including surface‑finish checks, using a range of precision measuring equipment.
  • Inspecting welded and fabricated assemblies, including visual and dimensional checks, ferrite testing and PMI of materials.
  • Performing final inspection of completed machines within Assembly & Test, ensuring components and assemblies meet drawing, specification and quality requirements.
  • Carrying out Goods Inwards inspection and sample inspection of purchased components and materials, maintaining identification and traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Raising and managing NCRs, supporting investigations and resolution, and contributing to NCR review meetings with production and engineering teams.
  • Working with sub‑vendors and external inspectors where required, including supporting supplier and internal audits.
  • Supporting certification and quality documentation, including calibration activities and the compilation of Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs).
  • Contributing to continuous improvement across inspection and quality processes.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrable QC/inspection experience ideally within a manufacturing, machine shop or fabrication environment
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment and dimensional inspection
  • Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, tolerances and specifications
  • Working knowledge of auditing to ISO 9001. ISO 45001 exposure would be a plus
  • Comfortable working independently, using initiative and maintaining a strong focus on quality and safety
  • A team player who can communicate effectively across Production, Engineering, Quality and external suppliers

This is an initial opportunity within a developing Quality function, with training, development and the potential for the scope of the role to grow as the business develops.

If you’re looking to build a long‑term career in Quality within a genuinely unique engineering and manufacturing business, we’d like to hear from you.
