Our Head Office is based in Peterhead in the North-East of Scotland, and our second site based in Uddingston in the outskirts of Glasgow.

The Engineering Manager will work alongside and report into the Chief Engineer. A key element of this role is to ensure the efficient running of the production facility, whilst managing engineering projects and ensuring timelines are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Chief Engineer and other members of the senior engineering management team and supporting and assisting them as and when required.
  • Liaising with the production department to maximise production, equipment availability and minimise downtime, with a hands-on approach and leading by example.
  • Helping to ensure that all equipment is maintained and is in good working order.
  • Ensuring engineering solutions are put in place to permanently fix breakdowns/failures and that the root cause is identified and addressed.
  • Maintaining records.
  • Aiding with maintenance of all appropriate accreditations.
  • Managing and controlling projects from conception through to production.
  • Managing multiple facets of projects simultaneously.
  • Ensuring all facets projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Creating, requesting, and analysing quote and tender submissions.
  • Supervising external suppliers and contractors within all site activities and operations to make daily production and maintenance requirements of the factory.
  • Managing change requests.
  • Investigating problems and/or complaints.
  • Assisting with the specification and design of new machinery.
  • Coordinating and managing all external Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) and enabling work suppliers.
  • Overseeing the technical delivery of any new equipment installed on site.
  • Providing technical support to the production department and to customers.
  • Supporting the sites continuous improvement activities.

Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Formal engineering qualification to at least City and Guilds level, ONC/HNC level or equivalent or extensive experience working as an engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • A sound knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as root causes analysis, machinery reliability, maintenance etc.
  • Extensive project management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of the machinery in a modern processing plant is essential.
  • Management experience is essential.
  • Previous experience of food processing equipment is essential.
  • Experience of working within a FMCG is essential.
