The Senior Stores Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the running of the store and ensuring all processes are implemented correctly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Store Assistants and Forklift Drivers are following the correct practices with regards to storing items, booking in and out stock, labelling pallets correctly, etc.
  • Liaise and co-operate with the quality assurance department to ensure packaging, ingredients and raw material that are issued to production are to the correct specifications. This includes ensuring intake samples are provided in a timely manner.
  • Problem solving all issues and liaise with relevant departments to come to an acceptable solution and inform the Stores Supervisor or Stores and Logistics Manager of any issues that cannot be resolved.
  • Have a sound knowledge of the quality control programmes and ensure they are being implemented by all stores personnel.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices and Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to and challenge any individual who is not working to these standards.
  • Lead, supervise and motivate all stores personnel.
  • Arrange the stores rotas to ensure that there is adequate cover for stock takes and shutdown period, whilst ensuring each member of staff does not exceed working 60 hours per week.
  • Use the RDT’s to scan stock in and out of the stores. This must be done with all movements and users need to ensure the information such as location, lot number, quantity is accurate.
  • Always adhere to company policies including the personal hygiene policy, using correct manual handling techniques, and always wearing the correct PPE.
  • The post holder will be required to work within our cold stores with temperatures of -20 degrees.
  • Support and actively promote brand integrity and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by ensuring there is engagement and communication between teams, customers and suppliers that continually drives improvement.
  • Assist and/or work in other areas/departments as and when required when asked to do so by a manager, senior manager, or company director.

Skills/Personal Attributes

  • Thrive on working in a fast paced, high pressured environment with a passion for delivering results and the drive to exceed expectations.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of English (written, verbal and reading).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a professional approach and attitude.
  • Experience of using a computerised purchasing and stock control systems is preferred but not essential.
  • Valid forklift licence for counterbalance and/or reach trucks is preferred but not essential. Refresher training is provided at both our Boddam and Uddingston sites.

Hours of Work

  • Normal contractual hours of work are 45 or 48 hours per week. If you are contracted to 45 hours per week the normal working day is from 06.00-15.00, Monday to Friday inclusive.
  • If you are contracted to 48 hours per week you will work 4 consecutive shifts of 12 hours per day, followed by 4 consecutive days off. Your normal working hours will be 06.00-18.00 or 07.00-19.00. However, your working times may vary and will depend on the demands of the role and the needs of the business.
  • As part of your role there is a requirement to complete stock takes. Time off in lieu may be given when you are scheduled to complete a stock take.
