Thistle Scientific is a global scientific partner that equips scientists to be relentless in their pursuit of answers. Not just answers to the hypotheses they test or experiments they conduct, but to our future. For our planet and its people. Science has no finish line, yet every generation leaves a headstart for the next. Our generation is no different. Our headquarters are based in Rugby, UK. But our team is global. We’re represented by brilliant minds and even better people. Brought together by science. United by purpose. The role amplifies that purpose. It connects with scientists. It inspires resilience. Through content and community, it reminds everyone that the part they play from the first question to the final conclusion changes the future. Because science is never done. So neither are we. One hypothesis at a time.

We're looking for a Junior Marketing Executive who is creative, proactive, and ready to get stuck into a broad range of marketing activities. You'll play a real role in building Thistle's brand presence — across social media, email, student communities, and beyond — and you'll have the space to bring your own ideas to the table from day one.

What you'll be doing:

  • Creating and scheduling content across Thistle's social media channels — reels, carousels, stories, and more
  • Writing captions and engaging with our community in Thistle's tone of voice
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of email marketing campaigns, including copywriting and scheduling
  • Designing on-brand visuals using Canva, working from our templates and brand guidelines
  • Developing and pitching ideas to grow Thistle's presence within student communities
  • Monitoring social platforms daily and jumping on trends, comments, and cultural moments before they pass
  • Supporting broader brand awareness initiatives including events and campaign activity
  • Tracking performance across channels and flagging what's working (and what isn't)
  • Bringing your own ideas — proactivity and initiative is genuinely valued here

What we're looking for:

  • A genuine interest in marketing and how brands show up in the world.
  • Some experience or strong interest in content creation, whether professionally, freelance, or for your own channels.
  • Comfort with Canva and CapCut (and a willingness to pick up new tools quickly).
  • Strong writing instincts — you know what sounds human and on-brand.
  • Energy and initiative — you spot opportunities and act on them without waiting to be asked.
  • An interest in building brand communities, particularly with student audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset — you'll work across the business and alongside scientists. No science background needed — curiosity is enough.

You’ll need to be comfortable travelling within the UK occasionally due to the nature of the role. While this role is new and will be yours to shape, you will be working alongside and supported by the Business & Brand Manager and internal team. This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days per week in our Rugby office. 25 days annual leave + bank holidays. Occasional team away days. Hybrid working with flexibility. On-site car park. Learning and development opportunities.

Interview Process:

  • You will answer a few questions about the role via a Typeform. We're not interested in a CV — just your passion for the role and evidence of creativity with a portfolio or website upload (if applicable).
  • You will then be invited onto a short virtual interview.
  • If successful, you will be set a brief creative task and invited to our HQ for a final interview and to present your work.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Come help us tell the story of science, one piece of content at a time.
