Part Time Personal Assistant (Support Worker)
Our Personal Assistants support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.
Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic individual who is committed to providing high quality, person-centred support to a lady who lives in the Craigmillar area and 2 other ladies in the Slateford area in Edinburgh. This position is part time for 20 hours per week although we would also consider a contract of fewer hours. As one of the ladies has a car, a candidate with a full UK drivers licence would be preferable. Team members are required to commit to doing a sleepover as part of the support package.
Each of the ladies have their own unique identities but like to socialise on occasion together. You will be part of a team who have supported them for a long time and who have a great deal of collective experience. All three women are incredibly strong, kind, creative and compassionate people who require a team member that will support them to maintain rhythm and purpose in their daily life. They each have their different interests and enjoy participating in different meaningful activities such as attending creative workshops, painting, chatting, watching nature documentaries, sports and listening to music. We are looking for an individual who can match their energy, whilst supporting them to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.
The appropriate candidate will be able to take initiative to research and take part in supporting the person they are with to activities in the local community and further afield, as well as think creatively of meaningful activities the person can do when at home. The support provided requires a variety of tasks including social community engagement, housing support, and support around health and wellbeing. Support with personal care and moving and assisting is also required in this role.
What we offer: We are committed to supporting you to develop your skills as a practitioner and creating career development opportunities. At Thistle, you will have access to sector-leading training courses and be supported to achieve your SVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care accreditation.
