About HUB
HUB is an integrated marketing agency based in Leeds. We are a collection of creative and technically skilled individuals, who have all been carefully selected to deliver the talent and enthusiasm needed to successfully deliver quality services for our clients. We’ve been working hard for over 19 years to achieve our vision.
The role
We are seeking an adaptable and highly skilled Data Analyst to lead our data offering at HUB. In this role, you will be responsible for the ongoing leadership and development of the team as well as the various data services we offer.
Our clients’ needs vary and often cover more than just marketing data to include marketing performance, sales pipelines, e-commerce transactions, inventory/stock levels, and operational metrics. To fulfil these needs we use a variety of technologies from PowerBI to Google Sheets, ensuring client data and insights are presented in an intuitive fashion for the diverse range of stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: As the departmental lead, you will be responsible for the ongoing development of the team, processes and offering including mentoring and line management.
- Client Relationship Building: At HUB we don’t hide behind account managers and our clients have direct relationships with the experts responsible for getting stuff done. With support from our Chief Analyst, you will be responsible for key relationships and how the department communicates with our clients.
- Data Governance: Due to the often-sensitive nature of the work we do, data accuracy and security is paramount. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing our data standards across HUB.
As a senior member of the data team, you will also be involved in:
- Custom Power BI Development: Design, build, and maintain interactive, white-labelled Power BI reports tailored to individual client needs. Ensure UI/UX best practices so dashboards are intuitive for non-technical clients.
- Diverse Data Integration: Extract and transform data from a wide variety of client sources, including marketing platforms and custom SQL databases/Excel dumps.
- Data Modelling & DAX: Build robust, scalable relational data models within Power BI. Write advanced DAX formulas to create custom KPIs, time-intelligence metrics, and cross-functional reporting.
- External Sharing & Security: Manage Power BI workspaces, apps, and sharing protocols. Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure clients only see their own proprietary data.
- Client Presentation & Support: Walk clients through their new dashboards, provide insights on the data, answer technical questions, and iterate on reports based on client feedback.
- Data Quality Assurance: Troubleshoot data connection issues, monitor scheduled refreshes, and ensure the absolute accuracy of the data being presented to clients.
Skills and qualities
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or consulting, preferably within an agency or consultancy.
- Team Leadership: Line management or similar team leadership experience.
- Power BI Skills: Advanced proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Service, including Power Query (M), complex DAX, data modelling, and workspace administration.
- SQL & Database Skills: Strong SQL skills for querying and joining data from various relational databases.
- Client-Facing Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to translate highly technical concepts into plain English for clients and stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, pivot quickly between different client requests, and make sense of unstructured or “messy” client data.
Nice to haves:
- Previous experience working in a marketing agency or consultancy.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Google BigQuery, Azure).
- Knowledge of Python or R for advanced data manipulation.
- Business Acumen: A strong understanding of general business operations beyond marketing, including sales cycles, supply chain/inventory basics, and financial KPIs.
What we offer:
- Hybrid working (3 days office/2 days optional home working).
- Your birthday off work.
- Free parking.
- Regular free lunches and quarterly social events.
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
- Access to discounted holiday travel booking.
