Job Location – Brighton, UK. Our Brighton business is moving to a new location in 2027. The new site is expected to be located in either Shoreham, Burgess Hill or Horsham and will be within a 15-minute drive of our current site.

L3Harris in Brighton are part of our Release Systems & Antennas division operating in the Aerospace domain. For over 70 years, L3Harris has designed and developed industry-leading carriage and release systems for fighter, rotary-wing and unmanned platforms and we design, manufacture and test a large portion of our release systems portfolio in our Brighton facility which offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space.
The Aerospace Test Engineer is responsible for planning and conducting verification and validation tests in accordance with approved aerospace standards, test specifications, and procedures. The role requires the ability to interpret engineering requirements, develop test plans, and execute test campaigns while maintaining full compliance with regulatory, quality, and health and safety requirements. The Test Engineer supports the efficient delivery of test programmes through coordination with engineering, quality, and programme teams, ensuring schedules and technical objectives are met. A key responsibility is the analysis of test data and the production of clear, accurate test reports that communicate results, compliance status, and technical conclusions to support certification and continuous improvement.

What the role will involve: The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Preparation of test schedules and programmes.
- Conducting and overseeing test campaigns and data collection.
- Liaison with test engineering, design, and manufacturing departments.
- Operation of dedicated test facilities to conduct product development and production acceptance tests to defined test procedures including: Weapon Release / Climatic / Pressure / Structural / Vibration.
- Recording test results and interpreting the data for the investigation and implementation of solutions to products, process or test problems and reporting.
- Understanding safety in the workplace at all times.
- Fitment and verification of test measurement instrumentation.
- Predominantly onsite at Brighton, with a flexible approach to work to meet project demands.
What you'll bring: The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Relevant College or University qualification or suitable apprenticeship with previous relevant experience of practical skills.
- Understanding of the principles of testing.
- Proven knowledge of mechanical assembly.
- Proven practical skills and use of hand tools.
- Methods of assembly and selection of fixings.
- Ability to consistently follow operational instructions.
- Ability to learn product knowledge and apply troubleshooting through critical thinking.
