L3Harris in Brighton are part of our Release Systems & Antennas division operating in the Aerospace domain. For over 70 years, L3Harris has designed and developed industry-leading carriage and release systems for fighter, rotary-wing and unmanned platforms and we design, manufacture and test a large portion of our release systems portfolio in our Brighton facility which offers 48,500 square feet of manufacturing space. Our mission-critical release systems equipment is on most major airborne fighter platforms worldwide, including the F-35, along with other aircraft like the Gripen and Typhoon.
We are seeking a Systems Engineer with experience or exposure to ILS engineering to support the development, integration, and verification of complex aerospace systems. The role will contribute to the definition of system requirements, system architecture, and integration activities while ensuring that ILS considerations are embedded throughout the engineering lifecycle. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and test engineers to deliver robust and compliant aerospace systems.

What the role will involve:
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Support the development and management of system requirements, ensuring traceability from customer needs through to verification.
- Assist in defining system architecture and interfaces across mechanical, electrical, and software elements.
- Contribute to system integration, verification, and validation activities.
- Participate in design reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR and TRRs.
- Maintain engineering documentation including requirements, interface definitions, and verification plans.
ILS Engineering:
- Carry out ILS activities in accordance with UK and international standards and regulations, such as DEF 00-600, 00-40, 00-42, 00-44 and ASD S3000L.
- Conduct AR&M (Availability, Reliability and Maintainability) analysis to support system engineering processes, influencing design decisions.
- Develop and maintain an AR&M Case Report.
- Conduct and manage comprehensive Logistic Support Analysis (LSA).
- Develop maintenance concepts and plans, including Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Through Life Support (TLS) assessments.
- Collaborate with engineering, logistics, and programme management teams to integrate ILS considerations.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations and documentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support design reviews and customer meetings, by presenting ILS evidence and guidance, ensuring that AR&M and supportability aspects are effectively communicated and addressed.
- Provide direction and oversight for obsolescence management within Engineering in collaboration with Supply Chain (DEF STAN 00-71).
What you’ll bring:
The role requires the following experience and skills:
- Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with 4+ years of experience working within the Aerospace/Defence industry in the System ILS domain.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in applying AR&M methodologies within complex engineering projects.
- Capable of influencing design and support solution via AR&M and/or supportability analysis.
- Experience/Proven Awareness with the following Logistic Support Analysis, techniques, methodology and practices:
- Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)
- Level of Repair Analysis (LORA)
- Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA)
- Spares Modelling and Analysis
- Facilities Analysis and Assessment
- Package, Handling, Storage & Transportation (PHS&T) Analysis
- Logistic Information Repository (LIR) / Logistic Support Analysis Record (LSAR)
- Ability to identify critical dependencies, successfully plan and enact activities to meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt, perform and explain complex support concepts with confidence.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BoM) and understanding of function/physical design schematics.
- Knowledge of Availability, Reliability, Maintainability and Testability analysis and ability to interpret its information.
- Proficiency with AR&M analysis tools and techniques, including:
- Availability Predictions / Modelling
- Reliability Predictions / Modelling
- Maintainability Predictions / Modelling
- Testability Analysis
- Failure Modes and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
