Most recruitment agencies stay small because everything runs through the founder. We're building the opposite, and we need a right hand to do it. Growth is a five-person specialist recruitment business placing talent into the companies building the infrastructure layer of AI, the tooling behind today's AI products and agents. We work with some of the fastest-moving Seed-to-Series C startups out of the US. The ambition from here: a UK and US team, a product line alongside the agency, and a significant exit in sight.
THE ROLE
As our Chief of Staff, you're the operational engine of the business. You'll build the systems, automation and AI-powered workflows that let a small team move like a much larger one, and take the operational, admin and project load off the team so their time goes to clients, billing and growth. When you do well, you free the team to build and make the business run on systems rather than on one person.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design and build the automations and AI workflows that run the business day-to-day.
- Lead the set-up and integration of our tooling stack.
- Keep our biggest projects on track.
- Build the dashboards that show how the business is performing.
- Run hiring operations and help operationalise the team's equity plans.
- Document how we work so the business can run without the founder.
- Own the founder's time, calendar and inbox, and protect his selling hours.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You do NOT need recruitment experience. We'll teach you everything you need to know about our world. What you DO need is experience in a services business, an environment where people, time and client delivery are the product. That's where the instincts for this role are built: margins, utilisation, delivering under pressure, and keeping clients and a team happy at the same time.
Beyond that:
- Your instinct is to build a system, not do the same task twice.
- You operate without hand-holding and over-deliver on what you own.
- You're comfortable with tools and tech, with light coding ability.
- You're discreet, commercially sharp, and able to influence senior people without formal authority.
- You thrive in ambiguity and at pace.
WHAT YOU GET
Up to £45,000 base. Performance bonus of up to 10%. Meaningful EMI share options with a performance ratchet, a genuine stake in a business built to sell. A front-row seat at a fast-growing, AI-native business, working directly with the founder.
