Overview

The Health Safety, Sustainability and Quality Manager works closely with the Head of HSSQ and the Sisk Rail delivery teams to provide operational level support for the safe delivery of Sisk Rail activity and promote the development of a strong safety leadership culture. Working across a wide remit of both internal and external interfaces, the role delivers standards of excellence through both proactive and reactive engagement. The role relies on the execution of a wide range of responsibilities and competencies that support best in class delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering health, safety, sustainability and quality technical advice, and guidance, providing support and assistance to all appropriate internal stakeholders and our supply chain at an operational level.
  • Developing and maintaining the HSSQ management system aligned to accredited standards, client requirements and Sisk expectations and standards.
  • Developing appropriate standards and expectations for HSSQ those working on Sisk Rail’s behalf including direct and supply chain activities, aligned to legal, client and Sisk requirements.
  • Developing and co-orientates the development of an internal assurance programme with the Senior Leadership team to ensure risk-based coverage of operational and organisational activities.
  • Preparing for, and facilitation of external assurance and audit activities including accreditation, client and Sisk group assurances e.g. RISQS, Network Rail, ISO 45001, 9001, 14001.

Experience

  • Practical experience of providing health and safety technical advice, guidance, and development of HSSQ management systems; preferably gained in the rail or construction industry.
  • Demonstrable experience of creating proactive safety cultures at operational and management levels.

Qualifications

  • Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (Health and Safety Degree, NEBOSH National Diploma, NVQ Diploma or equivalent).
  • Certified or Chartered Member IOSH (or equivalent).
  • Preferable training including; Rail PTS, Accident Investigation, Lead Auditor, Temporary Works, Lifting Operations, Fire Safety, and Work at Height.
