The Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver to join an established recycling and environmental services business. The role will involve completing commercial collection routes, working independently while maintaining a safe, reliable and professional service. This would suit an experienced Class 1 driver who is comfortable with early starts, longer shifts and multi-site collection work, and who is looking for a stable permanent position with overtime available.
The Role
- Completing scheduled commercial collection routes
- Carrying out daily vehicle and safety checks
- Ensuring collections are completed safely and efficiently
- Operating vehicles used for different types of commercial waste collections
- Working with collection equipment including RORO vehicles where required
- Reporting vehicle defects, route issues or operational problems to the Transport team
- Maintaining accurate paperwork and driver records
- Ensuring vehicles are operated safely and in line with relevant transport regulations
- Providing a professional service when attending customer sites
About You
Essential
- Valid HGV Class 1 / Category C+E licence
- Valid Driver CPC
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Good understanding of drivers' hours and road transport regulations
- Comfortable completing urban and multi-site commercial collection routes
- Comfortable with early starts from around 3:00am
- Reliable and able to work independently
- Able to commit to shifts of a minimum of 10 hours
Preferred
- Previous RORO / Roll-on Roll-off experience
- Previous commercial waste or recycling experience
- Experience operating specialist collection vehicles or equipment
- Previous experience completing multi-site or collection-based routes
Previous waste-sector experience is useful but is not essential for the right experienced HGV driver.
Package
- £53,000 per annum
- Permanent, full-time position
- Minimum 10-hour shifts Monday to Friday
- Early starts, typically from around 3:00am
- Overtime available every second Saturday
- Overtime paid at time and one-third
