Job Purpose

To deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute to the professional, corporate life of the school in relation to pupils, staff and appropriate external bodies within the agreements of the SNCT.

PVG Membership Requirements

Roles that require PVG membership will require candidates to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full‑time Volunteer Equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non‑members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first full month’s salary. PVG membership cost details apply to teaching roles at Grade 11 and above (£31,505 per annum / £17.31 per hour).

About The Role

To deliver quality education to assigned pupils and contribute to the professional, corporate life of the school in relation to pupils, staff and external bodies in accordance with SNCT.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Appropriate teaching qualification
  • Full GTC (Scotland) registration in the appropriate subject/sector, or eligibility for such registration
  • PVG scheme membership – Working with Children

Skills & Experience

  • Standard for Full Registration (see provided link)
  • Understanding of the General Teaching Council for Scotland Standards, Career‑Long Professional Learning, Code of Conduct and Scheme of Professional Update
  • Commitment to continued personal and professional development in line with GTCS expectations
  • Completion of Aberdeen City Council mandatory training courses and role‑specific training
