Join us as Senior Business Partner (Service Charges) / Service Charge Manager at Thirteen Group!

Role Overview: Thirteen Group is on the lookout for a Senior Finance Business Partner (Service Charges) / Service Charge Manager to join our Rent and Income Services Hub. You'll lead our small, dedicated service charge team, using your knowledge and experience of service charge setting and accounting. This is a key role for us, and you'll be part of our rent and income services management team. Reporting into Gemma, our Senior Rent and Income Services Manager, you'll work alongside a tight-knit team of senior business partners who lead our rent setting, rent accounting and credit control teams. This is a hybrid role, so you'll work from our fantastic head office at Hudson Quay, Middlesbrough, generally 1 day per week, with the rest of your week working from home remotely. Occasionally you'll be required to attend in-person team meetings, as well as occasional scheme visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading our dedicated service charge team, the ideal candidate will have robust financial skills with a working knowledge of service charges and strong communication skills.
  • Ensure we deliver an excellent service charge setting and accounting service to our customers.
  • Set and apportion service charges in a compliant, accurate and transparent way.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Rent & Income Service Manager you'll be our internal lead on service charges and provide guidance and support to your team and the wider business.
  • Continuously evolve the service charge function to deliver value for money for our customers.

About You:

  • Preferably, you'll have experience of people management and you'll be committed to taking your team with you as you evolve the service.

  • Working knowledge of service charges in social housing or within private property management.
  • Working knowledge of service charge legislation in a social housing and/or a commercial setting, across multiple property tenures.
  • Excellent IT skills and a broad knowledge of Microsoft applications, as well as a range of other housing and finance systems.
  • An appetite for innovation, a willingness to utilise technology to automate processes to help drive efficiencies and build capacity.
  • Collaborative, resilient, inspirational, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
