Join us as a Waste Operative at Thirteen Group! We are on the lookout for a Waste Operative to join our specialist team.
Role Overview
You’ll be based at our state‑of‑the‑art site at the Recycling Centre in Billingham, with some travel to locations across the Tees Valley. As part of a small team, you’ll support the delivery of our waste transfer, recycling and in‑house waste management services. Our overall aim is to reduce waste, increase recycling and divert waste from landfill. If you enjoy working outside and have experience of physical and manual work, we’d be interested in hearing from you.

Key Responsibilities
- Manual handling duties to assist with the collection, sorting and disposal of waste and materials.
- Quality checking to improve the amount and quality of materials sent for recycling.
- Carry out housekeeping duties on site.
- Complete a range of general semi‑skilled works such as operating the weighbridge.
- Ensure that the site operates in line with policies, procedures, environmental and health and safety legislation.
About You
- If you’ve worked in the waste industry or in a frontline at a waste transfer site, that would be a plus.
- Experience of operating specialist equipment such as a telehandler and commercial weighbridge would be an advantage, but training will be provided.
- A commitment to safe working practices and a good grasp of health and safety regulations.
