Role Overview: Thirteen Group is recruiting a dynamic HR Systems and Data Insight Manager to lead and develop a brand‑new systems and data function within our Reward & People Operations team. Based at our vibrant Hudson Quay office in Middlesbrough—working mainly from home but collaborating onsite at least weekly—you’ll shape the future of our HR and Payroll technology, drive data‑led decision making, and deliver insights that influence strategy across the organisation.

With responsibility for optimising our current HRIS (MHR iTrent), enhancing system performance, leading predictive workforce analytics, and building capability within a small team, this role puts you at the heart of transforming how we use technology and insight to power outstanding people experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

We’re looking for someone who is motivated by data, systems, continuous improvement, and making a measurable impact—this is an exciting opportunity to shape something new and meaningful at Thirteen. You’ll be excited by owning and optimising the HRIS/Payroll and other systems, ensuring system integrity, security and compliance; providing subject matter expertise for People systems designs, implementations, upgrades, testing and change control. Be able to develop accurate, timely data for managers and executives; reports and dashboards to measure performance and identify trends. Develop predictive analytics and modelling that provide clear and actionable insights for HR and business stakeholders. Promoting use of insight in strategic planning and supporting leaders with tailored analytics. You’ll actively manage the People team’s IT supplier contracts, ensuring products and services are aligned with organisational requirements and contract standards. This is a new part of our team, you’ll manage 2 direct reports, so we’ll need you to build team capability and confidence, setting clear objectives and priorities.

About You:

With a strong background in the maintenance and development of HR / Payroll systems, you should be able to demonstrate significant understanding of core HR and payroll processes and data structures. Our current system is MHR iTrent. You’ll have a track record of delivering system enhancements, automation and continuous process improvement, with technical expertise in managing, developing, testing, and overseeing change control processes within HRIS including payroll. You’ll be able to apply advanced analytical and numerical abilities alongside expertise in Excel to manipulate and interpret data sets, as well as demonstrating experience in workforce reporting, dashboards, predictive analytics and modelling for strategic insight. You’ll be a great communicator and collaborator, partnering with stakeholders within the wider People team and across the business to promote automation and user‑friendly functionality of our systems to encourage self‑serve, streamlined operations.
