Join us as a Support Service Worker at Thirteen Group! We are looking for 2 Support Service Workers (1 Full Time and 1 Part Time) for our supported housing service at Penrith Road, Middlesbrough. This service operates 24/7 and you’ll work across a four-week rota, including sleepover shifts, weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
Role Overview
We offer support to families who have found themselves homeless, providing vital assistance with immediate needs, and supporting them to move on to sustainable, independent living. Penrith Road has 15 self-contained flats and a range of communal facilities, as well as a private flat for our colleagues’ sleepover. While on shift, you’ll be based in the office right at the heart of the scheme when you are not supporting our families.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with customers to develop support plans which can include help with positive parenting, tenancy support, crisis prevention, money management and being a good tenant and neighbour.
- Provide support to our customers in a flexible and person‑centred way.
- Identify their goals through individual support plans.
- Offer support to families to be able to live more independently.
- Run activities such as money management and budgeting, cooking, indoor and outdoor games and hosting residents’ meetings.
- Provide creative freedom to deliver positive outcomes.
- Pick up additional hours on a relief basis, working across other schemes to gain insight into other parts of the business and create strong working relationships across teams.
About You
- Experience of supporting vulnerable client groups, with a good understanding of adult and child safeguarding and the complexities that it might bring.
- Able to prioritise your workload and supportive in a non‑judgemental way.
- Emotional resilience and the ability to deal constructively with challenging behaviour.
- Comfortable with lone working, thriving in your own environment as well as part of a team.
