Wanted: Senior Developer - not just another coding job. Real ownership. Real impact. Are you driven by building clean, scalable systems that solve real operational problems? Do you thrive on taking ownership - from understanding workflows through to delivering production systems? Would you like to work directly with clients and shape how real businesses operate? If so, Thirdsound ICT is looking for you.
We are building a next-generation digital operations platform for a large UK food producer supplying major supermarkets including Tesco and M&S - replacing manual, paper-based workflows with a scalable, cloud-based system. This system will form the foundation of a broader platform we intend to enhance and develop over the long term, building on real-world operational requirements. This includes:
- Order intake and load planning
- Pallet tracking and scanning
- Integration with external systems (EDI, ASN, retail platforms)
This is not a narrow dev role. You will work alongside the Founder (solution architect) and a domain specialist to design and build the system end-to-end.
The Role
You will be responsible for designing and delivering software aligned to real business operations, including:
- Translating complex workflows into scalable system designs
- Building full-stack applications and integrations
- Developing a cloud-based platform (Azure) with real-time data flows
- Working directly with stakeholders to refine and improve the solution
- Owning delivery across all phases: analysis -> design -> build -> rollout
This role requires independent thinking, strong communication, and precise execution.
A Successful Candidate Must Have
- High integrity, reliability, and quality of work
- Strong problem-solving ability and systems thinking
- Ability to design systems, not just implement tickets
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A hands-on, ownership mindset
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Curiosity and drive to continuously improve
- Willingness to take responsibility end-to-end
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Design modular, scalable systems aligned with operational workflows
- Define data models, APIs, and integrations
- Translate real-world processes into technical solutions
- Contribute to architecture decisions across cloud and application layers
2. Software Development & Delivery
- Build and maintain full-stack applications
- Develop integrations between systems (APIs, databases, third-party platforms)
- Deliver secure, performant, production-ready code
- Ensure scalability and maintainability
3. Project Lifecycle Ownership
- Work across all phases of delivery: Analysis (requirements, workflows, stakeholder input), Design (architecture, UI concepts, data flows), Build (development and integration), Testing (validation, iteration), Deployment (pilot, rollout, handover)
- Work directly with client teams on-site and remotely
- Participate in workshops, interviews, and process mapping
- Provide technical recommendations based on best practice
- Translate technical solutions into clear business outcomes
- Research tools, platforms, and emerging technologies
- Evaluate solutions objectively (not vendor-driven)
- Improve development practices and internal standards
- Contribute to reusable frameworks and future products
Technologies You Will Work With
- Microsoft Azure (cloud infrastructure, security, hosting)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (data layer)
- APIs and integration platforms (EDI, external systems)
- Databases and backend services
- Potential mobile or handheld device applications for operational workflows
Exact stack will evolve - adaptability is key.
