We’re on a mission to protect society from fraud and money laundering. We’ve already protected over 3 million people through life’s big transactions. Our co-founders Olly and Jack were led to this area when a friend was defrauded of £25K when buying their first property. At the time, anti‑fraud technology didn’t exist, which meant that completing the anti‑fraud checks required in these processes was largely manual. These big life moments should be exciting, but instead are often confusing and scary due to the painful process of completing these paper‑based checks and the risk of fraud. Thirdfort helps businesses to facilitate these anti‑fraud checks so that individuals know they can transact safely and seamlessly with professionals during these big transactions. Our anti‑fraud platform provides a secure way for professionals in regulated sectors like Lawyers, Estate Agents and Accountants to transfer funds and verify sensitive information through app‑based document checks, facial recognition and open banking.

The Role

This is a great opportunity for a capable and hungry individual who wants to gain experience in a leading tech startup. The Ops Analyst team are a core part of our offering, using industry leading tech to spot fraud and protect our clients, who range from Estate Agents letting teams to the Built to Rent sector. You’ll be working alongside an established group of Ops Analysts – excellent communication skills are essential, as well as not being phased by picking up a large volume of work each day. The summer months are our peak period, when you will be working with the team to deliver ambitious targets and give an amazing experience to our clients. This role demands excellent attention to detail, a professional manner and great written skills. We don’t expect you to have a background in law or compliance, but any knowledge or understanding around Anti‑Money Laundering and fraud/tenant referencing processes will set you in good stead. This team works closely with Customer Support and sits within our Customer Experience team – we want to make sure we provide reports of outstanding quality for our clients, whilst being able to work diligently and efficiently.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Use industry leading fraud detection tools to perform document analysis and identify fraud
  • Analyse and review applications for our clients, ensuring that applicants meet risk criteria
  • Provide advice and guidance to applicants to help accelerate the application process
  • Produce reports to help us and our clients make the right decisions
  • Work to deliver against ambitious targets – you’ll need to be highly organised and able to juggle enquiries
  • Communicate effectively and persuasively; patience and empathy are essential
  • Able to clearly explain complex requirements in fluent written English

What we are looking for

  • Be happy to get your hands dirty as part of our busy Ops Analyst team – you’ll deal with high volumes of reports (especially through the summer months), and tackle them all with a calm and good humoured approach
  • Committed to getting the right outcome for our clients
  • Careful, with great attention to detail, and able to spot problems and resolve them quickly
  • Someone who is tenacious and adaptable, maintains focus whilst working independently and remotely
  • Interest in learning more about fraud detection
  • Hungry to join an epically exciting startup – you’ll get excited about the prospect of rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in because you recognise the huge opportunity to gain great experience
  • 1‑2 years similar experience is helpful, especially in the start‑up, tech or legal space, but we’re open‑minded and interested in grads or people coming from jobs in other areas who can demonstrate the above skills

When you join Thirdfort, you’ll get immediate access to our flexible employee benefits package that aims to support you across these areas:

  • Compensation – £27k base salary
  • Working hours are between 8.30am – 6pm, Mon‑Fri, 40 hours per week
  • Flexible working – hybrid model, minimum of 2 days per week in Manchester office and flexibility to work from home on remaining days
  • Socials for the support team every third, with activities such as bowling, darts, cricket and food
  • Annual leave allowance of 26 days, increasing to 30 with tenure and option to buy additional days
  • Work from home allowance
  • Enhanced sick leave
  • Private healthcare with AXA
  • Uncapped budget for personal development
  • Share options for all UK employees
  • Wellness budget

We’re committed to building an inclusive, equitable and diverse culture where everyone has a chance to make a difference. We’re purposefully building a team of problem‑solvers that reflect our values – which is why we hire from all backgrounds. If you’re a curious, kind individual who takes ownership, you’ll be a great Thirdforter. If you require any reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please let your dedicated Talent Partner know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analysing resumes, or assessing responses.
