Location: Remote (UK-based)

Salary: £35,000 – £37,000 based on experience

Contract: Permanent – full‑time (part‑time also considered)

Deadline: Midnight on 23rd Nov 2025

Responsibilities

Day‑to‑day development

  • Build high‑quality WordPress websites
  • Use builder tools (e.g., Beaver Builder) to streamline development – desirable but not essential
  • Translate designer visuals into complete site builds, applying design systems consistently even when full designs aren’t provided
  • Design and maintain a boilerplate block/component library for future builds
  • Create structured content and custom functionality with ACF, including custom fields and block setups
  • Ensure websites are responsive, accessible and optimised for performance

Technical leadership & tooling

  • Act as our in‑house technical voice: advise PMs and designers on best practice, scoping and solutions
  • Recommend tools, plugins and approaches to improve our WordPress ecosystem, shaping a suite of professional licences
  • Advise on when ACF should replace builder‑based approaches for scalable, reusable or robust solutions
  • Support projects requiring deeper back‑end work such as custom API integrations, CRM connections or bespoke functionality
  • Identify scope risks or opportunities early and communicate them clearly to PM/AM

Hosting & maintenance

  • Manage our hosting environment (e.g., SiteGround)
  • Run monthly audits to ensure sites are secure, backed up and up‑to‑date
  • Embed performance optimisation and security best practices across all builds and maintenance activity

Client communication & teamwork

  • Speak directly with clients when needed – always clear, friendly and jargon‑free
  • Deliver CMS training sessions and video walkthroughs
  • Collaborate in a small, supportive team where everyone owns their role but helps each other
  • Bring a commercial mindset – balancing technical quality with project scope and client value

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong WordPress development experience (front‑end and back‑end)
  • A keen eye for design, layout, spacing, typography and UX
  • Experience creating reusable blocks, components or design systems within WordPress
  • Strong experience with ACF, including custom fields, flexible content layouts and bespoke ACF blocks
  • Ability to build custom functionality and integrations with third‑party systems
  • Knowledge of accessibility, responsive design, cross‑browser compatibility and performance optimisation
  • Excellent communication skills – clear, patient and able to explain technical details simply
  • A proactive, commercially aware approach to projects, deadlines and client requests

Desirable

  • Experience with page builders (ideally Beaver Builder)
  • Experience building custom Gutenberg blocks using ACF or similar frameworks
  • Experience working with charities or public sector organisations
  • Familiarity with third‑sector tools (fundraising platforms, CRMs, LMS tools)
  • Experience with SiteGround or similar hosting environments
