Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of tax returns with the support of external tax advisors in certain countries.
- Prepare tax reconciliations and calculate deferred taxes.
- Collaborate to develop and implement effective tax planning strategies.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations and implement necessary updates to ensure compliance.
- Implement necessary tax compliance tools and monitor ongoing compliance.
- Engage with local representatives and research tax laws of new jurisdictions that the organisation may add to its serviced markets.
- Provide guidance on tax‑efficient structures and transactions to optimize financial positions.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including finance, legal, sales and executive leadership, to address tax‑related matters and ensure alignment with overall business goals.
- Act as the contact person for all subsidiaries in the context of companywide projects with tax implications and tax planning, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Serve as the qualified contact person for auditors and tax advisors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, tax, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Tax Specialist, with a focus on German tax regulations, or in finance with a focus on taxes.
- In‑depth knowledge of German tax laws, including VAT, corporate income tax, and individual income tax.
- Knowledge of tax laws in any other jurisdictions (e. g., UK, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Romania, Australia, New Zealand, or India) is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of accounting according to HGB.
- Proven experience in tax planning and advisory services.
- Proficient in Excel.
