A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from an immediate basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who is considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN support or child development and wants to gain valuable hands-on experience within a primary school environment. The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to help pupils make progress both academically and socially. Depending on your experience, you may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, working with small groups or providing general classroom support . Your responsibilities may include: Supporting pupils with their learning across the primary curriculum
Working 1:1 or in small groups with pupils who require additional support
Supporting children with SEN and additional learning needs
Helping pupils with reading, writing and math activities
Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils develop confidence
Assisting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime
Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher
Creating a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Graduate
The school is particularly interested in graduates who have: A 2:1 degree or above (or equivalent)
A genuine interest in working with children
Previous experience working with children, young people or individuals with additional needs
Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Mentor, Support Worker, Youth Worker or similar is desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, calm and positive approach
The ability to build strong relationships with pupils
A willingness to learn and develop within the education sector
Psychology, Education, Maths, English or other relevant graduates are encouraged to apply. Previous school experience is desirable but not essential for the right graduate where you can demonstrate relevant child-facing experience. Why Apply?
