Transport Planning Coordinator to join their established and friendly planning team.

With a

4 on, 4 off shift pattern , including weekends and bank holidays, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys transport planning but wants a working pattern that gives them plenty of time away from work.

You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating road transport movements across the UK, working closely with customers, hauliers, distribution centres and internal teams to ensure vehicles, routes and deliveries are planned as efficiently as possible.

What you'll be doing

You'll play a key role in keeping the transport operation running smoothly, with responsibility for:

  • Planning and coordinating daily UK road transport movements.
  • Reviewing outstanding orders and prioritising transport requirements.
  • Planning efficient routes and consolidating loads to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise empty mileage.
  • Selecting cost-effective transport solutions while maintaining agreed customer service levels.
  • Arranging transport with approved hauliers and coordinating collection and delivery times.
  • Working closely with customers, hauliers and distribution centres to ensure transport plans are delivered effectively.
  • Producing and distributing the daily

Trunk Schedule and UK Delivery Schedule .

  • Monitoring live transport operations and proactively resolving any issues that arise.
  • Keeping the Transport Management System (TMS) accurate and up to date.
  • Recording delays, exceptions and operational updates accurately.
  • Providing operational information to support KPIs and reporting.
  • Escalating issues quickly where required to minimise disruption.
  • Supporting the wider operations team and identifying opportunities to improve planning processes and efficiency.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who already understands the pressures and pace of a busy transport operation.

You'll ideally have

At least 1 year's experience in Transport Planning , ideally involving HGV vehicles.

  • Experience routing and planning HGV drivers.
  • Previous experience working with hauliers.
  • A good understanding of the UK freight, transport or logistics industry.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confidence making operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly

Excel and manipulating data .

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with customers, hauliers and colleagues.

It would be a bonus if you also have

  • Knowledge of

WTD and EU/AETR Drivers' Hours regulations .

  • Experience within food safety or temperature-controlled logistics.
  • A CPC or relevant degree-level qualification.
  • Knowledge of a European language.
