About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a highly established and respected Tier 2 Principal Contractor based in Nottingham. The company has an excellent reputation for delivering high-end, multi-million-pound construction projects across a range of sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial career while gaining valuable experience on prestigious and high-value construction projects.

The Role

Working closely with the commercial and project teams, you will support the successful financial and commercial delivery of projects from pre-construction through to completion. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the commercial management of construction projects.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of valuations.
  • Assisting with variations, change control and cost reporting.
  • Supporting procurement and subcontractor management.
  • Monitoring project costs and budgets.
  • Assisting with subcontractor payments and accounts.
  • Reviewing and managing commercial documentation.
  • Supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider commercial team.
  • Building strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients and project teams.
  • Gaining exposure to projects valued in the multi-millions.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Experience working for a main contractor or principal contractor is preferred.
  • A good understanding of construction commercial processes.
  • Experience with valuations, variations, procurement and cost control.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A commercially minded and proactive approach.
  • A genuine desire to progress and develop within the construction industry.
