I am looking for a Beach Cleansing Operative to work on behalf of a local council in the North Shields area. The successful candidate will undertake general maintenance duties of the coastline of North Tyneside including the 4 resort beaches of Whitley Bay, Cullercoats Bay, Tynemouth Longsands and King Edwards Bay.

Duties will include:

  • Litter picking of the beach and surrounding area as required on a daily basis.
  • Emptying of beach bins.
  • Assisting other members of the Environmental Services team to maintain the standards required along the coast and beaches.
  • Clearing the promenades, stairs and ramp accesses to the beaches of sand, weeds and any other debris or litter requiring removal.
  • Use petrol powered grass strimmers to maintain the grass verges along paths, promenades, stairs and ramps and any other area deemed necessary.
  • Use of petrol powered hand operated beach cleaning machine as and when required.
  • Use of basic hand tools to remove litter, sand, weeds and edge grass verges etc.
  • Any other general maintenance duties as required by the Seafront Service.

The Operative will receive: £14.10 P/H for 3 months of work. We are offering 2 separate shift patterns which include:

  • Monday 14:30 till 20:00 and Tuesday to Thursday 08:00 till 20:00 including 1.5 hour unpaid lunch breaks.
  • Friday to Sunday 08:00 till 20:00 including 1.5 hour unpaid lunch break and Monday 08:00 till 13:30.
