What You’ll Drive

  • Increase donations and funding – Your optimisation work will bring more potential donors to our website, helping us raise more money for vital school programmes.
  • Amplify our impact stories – Through well-structured, discoverable content, you’ll help ensure stories from Malawi reach wider audiences, strengthening trust, empathy, and engagement.
  • Support major partnerships and grants – A strong online presence is key when organisations and grantmakers evaluate who to support. You’ll help position us as credible, transparent, and ready to scale.
  • Grow our volunteer and ambassador community – By improving search visibility for volunteering, partnerships, and supporter opportunities, you’ll help bring in new people who want to contribute their time and expertise.

What are we looking for?

Essential Experience

  • Proven track record in SEO strategy and implementation – experience improving organic traffic, keyword rankings, and content performance, ideally for mission‑driven organisations, charities, or small teams.
  • Hands‑on experience with SEO tools – comfortable using platforms like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of on‑page optimisation – meta tags, keyword research, internal linking, content structuring, and best‑practice formatting.
  • Technical SEO knowledge – experience with site audits, identifying crawl issues, improving page speed, mobile optimisation, and understanding how technical performance affects rankings.
  • Content SEO skills – ability to work with writers or create optimised content themselves; understanding how to turn charity stories into search‑friendly impact pieces.
  • Experience improving UX for SEO benefit – understanding how user behaviour, navigation, and site clarity affect search visibility and conversions.
  • Ability to grow backlinks ethically – experience with relationship‑building, outreach, and securing relevant, high‑quality links, especially useful in the nonprofit space.
  • Data‑driven decision‑making – can interpret analytics and turn insight into actionable improvements.
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms – experience with WordPress or similar systems, including knowledge of plugins like Yoast or RankMath.

Desirable Experience

  • Charity or nonprofit experience – understanding the challenges and opportunities of working in a values‑driven, resource‑conscious environment.
  • Experience working with small teams – comfortable being hands‑on, independent, and adaptable, important for charities that rely on volunteers and flexible workflows.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the ongoing development of our online fundraising strategy.
